Six week social innovation and enterprise programme
Origin is our social innovation and enterprise programme to support individuals and groups, within Exeter’s diverse communities to help develop local solutions to the biggest challenges facing our city.
Origin offers two ‘Roots’ of support, guidance, advice, expertise and training, both running for six weeks:
Got an idea to make change in your local area or within your community but not sure where to start? Do you have an idea for social or environmental project and need support getting it off the ground?
Are you an individual or community group based in Greater Exeter and passionate about sustainability, the environment and creating change in your local area?
Origin will provide a six-week structured programme for individuals and community groups who want to develop a project within their local area, and need a helping hand to launch, market and make it a reality. Through a series of six training workshops we will explore:
- Defining the purpose of the project
- Understanding community need and building support
- Programme and event management skills
- Marketing and communication
- Exploring funding options
- Building a pitch
Who should apply?
You will be an individual or community group with a social or environmental project idea rooted in making Exeter a sustainable city and a better place to live. Your idea will be in its infancy but is borne out of a societal or community need within your local area. You will have developed community networks, but now need support in full project delivery, from project and event management to understanding communication channels and possible funding routes. You will be committed to attending all six workshops and intending to deliver your project within 3-6 months of finishing the training.
Got a clear concept in mind and want to test its potential as a social enterprise? Are you an aspiring social entrepreneur that has a concept that you want to develop? Do you want to test your concept, develop your sustainable business plan and learn how to pitch?
Origin will provide a six-week sprint programme for community businesses and social entrepreneurs – from help defining the offer, building an MVP to planning a sustainable business model. Through a six-week sprint programme we will offer support in:
- Framing the concept, defining the problem
- Knowing your audience
- Understanding value
- Building an MVP
- Designing a Business Model
- Determining financial drivers and developing your pitch
Who should apply?
You will be an individual or community business that has identified a social impact concept within Greater Exeter. You will be passionate about building a business that has the potential to help Exeter become a more sustainable city. You will want to build an MVP, plan your sustainable business model to develop the potential of your concept, explore and understand the social investment landscape and develop a robust pitch.
